Wait on the Lord, be quiet with Him.

Hi Brothers and Sisters

Ever feel like life is just too much, no matter what you do where you go things are just tough, it’s an uphill battle? There are constant demands on our time and our resources.

Then we look at passages like todays Isaiah reading and we see effectively that God is God, He creates and sustains, he lifts people up and brings people down, and we go: “Ja sure that’s cool and where exactly does that leave me?”

I think Job felt the same, he wrestled with God and asked God why he was suffering as much as he was. God’s reply – basically: “I am God and where were you when I created the world?”

Not something that fills us with confidence. Paul says he is compelled to preach (1 Cor 9:16). Effectively Paul says he has no option but to preach! Jesus said to his disciples “Let us go somewhere else-to the nearby villages-so that I can preach there also. That is why I have come.” (Mark 1:39).

So we have this paradox. We have to do what we have to do and God does what God does. He controls and holds all things in His hands. So again where exactly does this leave you and me? Still struggling and battling and trying to drag ourselves through this life? Trying to do what we are called to do?

How do we cope, where do we go? I think the answer is in Isaiah 40: 29-31 “But those who wait for the Lord [who expect, look for, and hope in Him] shall change and renew their strength and power; they shall lift their wings and mount up [close to God] as eagles [mount up to the sun]; they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint or become tired.” (AMP).

While it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house and went off to a solitary place, where he prayed (Mark 1:35).

So, maybe that’s what we should do, wait on the Lord, be quiet with Him.

Be blessed Harry
