What does that mean to you?
It is a bold statement, yet at the same time, it doesn’t get much simpler than “God is Love.” The truth in that statement is outstanding, magnificent, glorious, overwhelming… God is Love.
I don’t know what your experience of love has been in your life. I don’t know how many heartbreaks you have had or how many memories you have of staring into the eyes of a grandfather, grandmother, mother or father and just seeing love staring right back at you. I don’t know who may have been the person who destroyed the idea of love for you or restored your hope that love could really exist again.
Whatever scars you may have from your experiences of love or whatever beautiful thoughts you think of when you think of love, God has so much more in store for you. God wants to reveal His Love to us, to some of us who haven’t experienced Love, ever. To some of us who have experienced just a sliver of God’s Love but are too scared to put the rest of our foot into the water. To some of us who have dived into God’s love but yet have so much more to discover.
Jesus says in John 15,
“Remain in Me and I will remain in you.”
It’s through abiding in Christ that God can uncover this magnificent Love for us. It’s through living with Him where He can heal those scars that were caused by an un-divine love. Where He can give you the courage to stick your foot into the water and then dive right in. The only way we can experience Love for Who He truly is, is by walking with Jesus and letting Him peel back the curtain for us.
He’s one step away, all you need to do is move toward Him.
